AT&T Inc. is an America’s leading multinational telecommunications company which was founded in 1876 whose headquarter is situated at Whitacre Tower, Dallas, Texas, U.S. AT&T is the biggest provider of both mobile and fixed telephony in the United States of America that’s not all they also provide services for broadband subscription television. As of 2012, AT&T was declared 7th biggest company by revenue and as 5th largest non-oil company in United States (and 3rd in Texas and Dallas biggest company) having more than 252,320 employees. AT&T became 17th largest corporation globally as per their market value & 13th largest non-oil company during the year April 2012. In the year 2011 AT&T was ranked 20th biggest mobile telecom operator in the world having over 100.7 million mobile customers and generating revenue of about US$ 126.723 billion (as per 2012 data).
AT&T Inc. provides services in telecommunication together with wireless communications, local exchange & long-distance services, Internet & services, telecommunications equipments. AT&T Inc. is top American corporate donor and second largest donor in United States political campaigns according to Center for Responsive Politics. US $47.7 Million was contributed by AT&T since 1990 out of which 56% went to Republican while rest 44% to Democratic party. From the year 1998 to 2010, the company spent US$130 million on influencing customers in the United States. AT&T Inc manages business through four divisions - Wireless, Wireline, Advertising Solutions and Others.
The Wireless division functions ample range of high-quality countrywide wireless voice and data communications services with a mixture of pricing plans as per the needs of customers which also includes postpaid and prepaid service plans. AT&T Inc. is also in the business of sales of mobile handsets, computers and data cards manufactured by different suppliers for use with voice & data services. The Wireline division offers services to both retail and wholesale communication services nationally as well as internationally. Its wireline services are divided mainly into 3 product-based groups - voice, data and other. The Advertising Solutions division consists of directory operations, which bring out Yellow and White Pages directories and generate revenue by selling directory advertising and Internet-based advertising together with local search. This revenue is generated via selling advertisement services all over the United States, you will be amazed to know that print directory operations mostly covers 22 states area. The final but important other segment comprise of client information services with businesses and additional operations together with e interest cost & expected return on pension and postretirement benefits.
