Intel in talks to buy GlobalFoundries for ~$30B

  • Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) is exploring a deal to buy GlobalFoundries, WSJ reports, in a move that would accelerate its plans to make more chips for other tech companies.
  • A deal could value GlobalFoundries at ~$30B, according to the report, which would rate as Intel 's largest-ever acquisition.
  • GlobalFoundries, one of the largest specialist chip producers and owned by an investment arm of the Abu Dhabi government, has been planning an initial public offering.
  • Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said in March that the company would launch a major effort to become a chip manufacturer for others.

    Over the current book year the company from Santa Clara could achieve a revenue around 73.57 billion USD (consensus estimates). This is slightly lower than 2021's revenue of 77.87 billion USD.
