Van De Velde is a publically trading conglomerate, primarily involved in marketing of luxurious lingerie for women. Van de Velde NV, along with its auxiliary units, is engaged in the overall process of designing, developing, manufacturing and finally marketing of fashion oriented lingerie products in the European region. The company has been founded by Achiel and Margaret Van de Velde, in the year of 1919, and currently also being the owner of the firm. The company has been headquartered in Wichelen, Belgium, with a diversified working strength of 456 counts of employees in Belgium itself, 643 in Tunisia, 67 in Spain and 54 in other countries, as according to the data of 31 December, 2009. Among the key people of the company, follows the name of Lucas Laureys, as the Director and also the Chairman of the company. The employees that are present in a diversified manner among many of the regions have made the overall turn-over of the company to reach 133 million euros, in the year of 2008.
Coming to the capitalization of the company, a numbering of around 13 million shares have been distributed among the share holders of the stock exchange of Euronext Brussels in Belgium. Van de Velde NV is an auxiliary part of ‘Van de Velde Holding NV’, whose major part of a manufacturing process is being carried out in Tunisia. Van de Velde retailing division is also holding an 85 % of shares in ‘US multi brand chain Intimacy’ management, that have been taken back in the year of 2010, by spending of an amount of 13.5 million $ on its verge of this property. Marie Jo (Haute Lingerie), Marie Jo L'Aventure (Lingerie Pure), Andres Sarda, Marie Jo Intense (for sports) and Prima Donna (Exigez l'excellence) are the names of the brands, which are owned by this company and the products are being sold under these big names. Prima Donn is one of the prime lingerie brands of Germany, which has been taken over by Van de Velde, in the year of 1990. 25.7 % of the shares have been purchased by Van de Velde in the big name – ‘Top Form International’, along with the 50 % of the shares in Donker stores, which is now totally owned by it. Along with this possession, the company is also holding the shares in Eurocorset (Spain), which is having its own retailing auxiliary unit named as ‘Sul Tu Corpo’.
