BHP sells Neptune oilfield stake to EnVen Energy

  • BHP (BHP) sold its 35% stake in the Gulf of Mexico's Neptune oilfield to independent producer EnVen Energy for an undisclosed sum, Reuters reports.
  • EnVen already owned a 30% stake in the deepwater field, which also is co-owned by energy companies W&T Energy VI and 31 Offshore; BHP was the operator of the field.
  • Financial terms of the deal are not disclosed, except that EnVen agreed to cover abandonment liabilities.

    Over the current book year the total revenue will be 57.92 billion GBp (consensus estimates). This is hugely more than 2020's revenue of 42.93 billion GBp.

    The analysts expect for 2021 a net profit of 16.21 billion GBp. According to most of the analysts the company will have a profit per share for this book year of 322 GBp. The price/earnings-ratio is then 6.53.

    Huge dividend BHP Group

    For this year the analysts expect a dividend of 261 GBp per share. The dividend yield is then 12.41 percent. The average dividend yield of the mining companies is a low 0.81 percent.

    Based on the current number of outstanding shares BHP Group 's market capitalization 4440.55 billion GBp. The BHP Group stock was the past 12 months quite unstable. Since last May the stock is even 44 percent higher. This year the stock price moved between 1450 and 2419 GBp.
