The Kinepolis Group was set up in 1997 following the merger of the Bert and Claeys groups. It was listed on the stock market in 1998 and has since grown to become Belgium's market leader and a leading player in the European market. Kinepolis Group is a leading European film distribution industry possessing a large number of movie theatres along with the coverage of box-office, screening of ads and ITS (In Theatre Sales) in B2B programs. The foundation of the company has been laid down in 1997 and has been headquartered in Ghent, Belgium. One of the key personalities of the company who was involved in managing the overall work is Philip Ghekiere (Chairman), and after his withdrawing from the company, the two others people involved in managing the overall work are Joost Bert and Eddy Duquenne, both are the co-Chief Executive Officer. The establishment of the firm was laid down by the merging of two groups namely, Bert and Claeys, and since then the group has been the leader in this field in Belgium. The amount of working strength of the company is 1900 employees, responsible for carrying out all the work related to cinemas and theatres. There are in total 23 cinemas as the possessions of the company mainly in Europe along with the other regions including France, Spain, Poland and Switzerland, making a total area of 317 hectares under its coverage.

Flanders for focusing on the sustainable and developmental stage via two of the main groups, KBC Asset Management and VWD Group Belgium in coordination with each other. The main divisions of the firm can be mentioned as Box-office, In-theatre marketing, B2B (Business-to-business), Real-estate and Film distributing sectors.
‘Box-office’ division is engaged in the selling of tickets for the theatres and movies while the In-theatre selling unit is engaged in the selling of food items and related stuff. Coming to the B2B division, the main role played is the caring of the management of the corporation events and selling of screening ads to the related field customers. ‘Film distribution’ division is for carrying out the responsibilities in relation to showing the movies in cinemas. At last, Real estate division is to focus on the earning and properties management. There is also a ‘Technical division for delivering of the technology supporting for any of the fields.
