Southwestern Energy in talks to buy Blackstone gas producer

  • Southwestern Energy (SWN) is in advanced talks to buy Blackstone-backed GeoSouthern Energy for ~$1.7B, Bloomberg reports.
  • GeoSouthern has been searching for a buyer in recent months, according to the report, as U.S. natural gas futures have nearly doubled since the start of the year.
  • The company owns assets in Louisiana's Haynesville shale basin, the second largest shale gas producing region in the U.S.
  • In June, Southwestern agreed to acquire gas producer Indigo Natural Resources for $2.7B.

    Over the current book year the total revenu from the company based in Spring will be 4.43 billion USD (consensus estimates). This is hugely more than 2021's revenue of 2.31 billion USD.
