Deutsche Telekom nears €5B sale of Dutch unit

  • An announcement could come this week that Deutsche Telekom (OTCQX:DTEGF, OTCQX:DTEGY) will sell its T-Mobile Netherlands unit in a deal that could fetch €5B ($5.9B), Bloomberg reports.
  • A consortium backed by Warburg Pincus and Apax Partners is considered a strong contender, according to the report, which says the sale also has attracted interest from Apollo Group Global Management and India's Reliance Industries.
  • Deutsche Telekom considered a sale of the Dutch unit in 2015 before deciding to keep the business. and in 2019 merged it with Tele2 's operations in the Netherlands to create one of the biggest local carriers.

    Over the current book year the total revenu from the company based in Bonn will be 106.85 billion euros (consensus estimates). This is slightly more than 2021's revenue of 101 billion euros.
