Kinder Morgan to buy RNG developer Kinetrex Energy in $310M deal

  • Kinder Morgan (NYSE:KMI) agrees to acquire renewable natural gas developer Kinetrex Energy from an affiliate of Parallel49 Equity for $310M.
  • Kinetrex owns a 50% stake in the largest renewable natural gas facility in Indiana, and has signed commercial agreements to begin construction on three additional landfill-based RNG facilities.
  • Once operational next year, the four sites are expected to produce more than 4B cf/year of RNG.
  • Kinder Morgan sees the acquisition becoming accretive to shareholders as the three RNG facilities become operational over the next 18 months, and says the purchase price and additional development capex represents less than 6x expected 2023 EBITDA.
