Facebook acquires 'Population: One' maker BigBox VR for Oculus

  • Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) has acquired BigBox VR, the creators of breakout virtual-reality battle-royale game Population: One.
  • That's one of the most popular games on Facebook 's Oculus platform just nine months after launch, Oculus' Mike Verdu says. And it's the latest in a string of VR studio acquisitions that Facebook is piling up.
  • "We continue to invest in content that fosters social connection, and we believe Pop: One delivers this experience to the VR community in spades within a super fun gaming experience," he says.
  • The entire team at BigBox VR is joining Oculus studios, and Verdu says Population: One will continue to be supported on non-Oculus platforms as well.

    Over the current book year the company from Menlo Park's total revenue could be around 115.92 billion USD (consensus estimates). This is rather significant more than 2020's revenue of 85.97 billion USD.

    The analysts expect for 2021 a net profit of 37.77 billion USD. For this year most of the analysts expect a profit per share of 13.12 USD. So the price/earnings-ratio equals 25.65.

    For this year analysts don't expect the company to pay a dividend. The average dividend yield of the internet companies equals a limited 1.12 percent.
