On the other hand the Downstream segment works mainly of refinement of crude oil into different petroleum goods, transporting & marketing of crude oil and advanced products; and some refined products by pipeline, marine vessel, motor equipment and rail car and developing and promotion of commodity petrochemicals, industrial use plastic and fuel and lubricant additives. The Downstream segment managing refining and chemicals are operative mainly at U.S. Gulf Coast, Southeast Asia, South Korea, Australia and South Africa.
The company is a multinational, American energy corporation. It is one of the successor corporation of standard oil. It is located in San Ramon, California, and is functioning smoothly in over 180 countries. The company deals in every form of oil, natural gas, and geothermal energy industries, which include hydrocarbon exploration and production, refining, marketing and transport; chemicals production and sales; and power generation.
It is one of the biggest oil companies and in 2017 it was 19th in rank on the Fortune 500 list of the top US companies and was ranked sixteenth on the Fortune Global 500 list of the top 500 companies around the world.
